Patient Spotlight: Briana, Hip Injury

Physical Therapy is consistently ranked tops in career satisfaction and it's easy to see why. Everyday in our profession we have the honor of walking beside our patients as they pursue their individual goals and work to take back what pain has taken from them. Each month we will share a patient success story to celebrate the patients's accomplishments as well as to inspire others. This month we'd like to introduce you to Briana. Read on to find out how she overcame her pain and got back to life!

BBN: Please tell us a little about yoursef!

Briana: I’m a 21 year old student at the University of Kentucky, pursuing a bachelors degree in kinesiology and health promotion. I’m an avid runner and fitness lover, and currently work at Orange Theory Fitness as a front desk staff member.

BBN: How did you injure yourself?

Briana: I injured my hip while training for the Kentucky Ale Horse Capital Half Marathon. I only had 2 months to train for the race and definitely over did it.

BBN: How did your injury limit you in your daily life?

Briana: My main stress reliever for day to day life was and always has been running, and I couldn't run. Without that I felt crazy! I also had a lot of pain when walking and when using stairs. This was a huge problem because I walk a lot on campus and have to work out often for my job.

BBN: What did your treatment consist of?

Briana: My treatment consisted of various strengthening exercises and dry needling*, along with joint mobilizations and deep tissue massage.

BBN: How are you now?

Briana: I’m doing great! I ran for the first time since my injury this past weekend and finally felt like myself again. I can’t thank the therapists at BBN Physical Therapy enough for giving back my favorite pastime.

Great job Briana!
